1983 Mazda RX-7 For Sale
1983 Silver Mazda RX-7 for sale with approximately 67,565 miles. A brief history; The original owner kept this classic car in his garage for years until his Son moved out and needed a vehicle for school. After a while the catalytic converter went bad and instead of replacing it, he parked it and bought another car. He happened to be my Brother-in law, so when I saw the car just sitting out in the bright California Sun I offered to buy it and take good care of it. It has been one of the best cars I've ever owned. I have never done any major work on it except the following:
1. Replaced the catalytic converter. 2. Brake work 3. New Spark Plugs and wires 4.Changed the battery 5. Oil & Coolant change etc. 6. New tires and rotation. (Most of the work done will accompany paperwork and receipts.)
I had plans to to make this Car my hobby project but unfortunately I ran into a problem with no where to store it. With the right mechanic touch and restoration abilities this car would be off the hook. It is still in the same great shape I bought it in but does require some work. The mileage I have listed above is approximate because the odometer stopped counting right after I purchased the car. I calculated the amount of miles I put on to be 4000 and added that to the odometers total of 63,565.
Engine: The car runs good although it's not as fast as it once was. The starter gives me some trouble when turning the key and it sounds like it needs to be replaced. You may have to turn the key a few times when first starting. Make sure you pull the Choke out, yes this car has a choke and let it warm up. The Choke automatically goes back in once the engine is warm. I recently had some brake work done but the light came back on and they need to be looked at again.
Interior: The interior is in great condition and comes with the original tape deck/cigarette lighter/and clock all working. All the buttons like power side mirrors, defrost, gas opener, interior lights etc. are all working fine too. The tape deck works but the radio antenna does not come out properly so the am/fm reception is low. I have the right radio knob the pic shows missing. I've never had to use the AC because I avoided driving the car long distances or in extreme heat. Like most older cars you probably have to get the AC serviced if you want it to work. The center storage console is detached and needs new fasteners to re-attach properly. The seats and carpet are all in great shape along with the dash board. There are a few small tears shown in the pics on the driver and passenger door. This vehicle has also lived a smoke free environment.
Exterior: All the lights are working and the tires still have a fair amount of tread on them. On one of the pics you will see the ding on the left headlamp. This was a result of trying to store my car in a compact space when some object fell on it. The Windshield wipers will need to be replaced but the mechanics work fine. Living near the beach is awesome but it has it's disadvantages, one being the salt and moisture and it's effect on your ride. Posted are the pics where the weather caused some fading or rust in obvious areas. My main purpose in selling this car is to find an owner that can take good care of it and help keep it's luster. Ultimately it should be a fun project to restore and retain all that this car has to offer.
Extras: I will be sending the Manuel guides that came with it along with the 1983 Mazda Books and informational packets. Also there is a piece of the MAZDA logo that goes on the body that I managed to hold onto. I have an an additional body part that goes around the side rear light, you can see where it goes in one of the pics. I have a little bottle of touch up paint but I'm not sure if it's for interior or exterior. There is also an extra front license plate if you decide to put it on.
